Charles and I started in Rough Collies many years ago, the early 70's. It all started when my mother Mrs. Janet Scott got her first rough collie and a pet show just happened to be on at the local park. She decided that we should go along and enter Shane and that Elizabeth our daughter would handle him. There were many entrants and the judge was Mr. Dave Smith. He judged all the dogs and picked out 8, he then made them move again and brought it down to 4, and of coarse our Elizabeth was in the final 4. things were getting  really tense as he was about to present  the trophy for best in show, well you guessed it the winner was Elizabeth with Shane, and that is how my mum, Charles and I  got started in rough collies. We found out more about showing when we went to the local ring craft. At this time everything was new to us, but we were hooked. Shane had straight ears, big eyes, no stop, hardly any length of coat, straight stiffle, infact it would be easier to say that he was sable / white the right colour, never the less we all went along to the shows. We soon found out that he was all wrong but that didn’t stop us. We got help on how to groom, presentation and all aspects on how to look after and show a rough collie. We were helped by Willie Moffat, Harry McLaren, Peggy McAdam, Hugh Scott and many others, you are always learning more everyday about roughs and how best to show them, we thank all these people for all their help.My mum then bought her 2nd. Dog and we bought our first. Then there was another and another and that is how we got started, and here we are today

Our most memorable wins, well I think that all our wins are memorable, getting your very first at a show, getting Best of Breed and winning the group that is when it was still the Working Group and going on to win Best n Show it was great. Memorable wins is when you win at your first Ch. Show, you get handed this ticket and you don't really know what it means it is a feeling that you can not explain.

Our favourite rough of all time, there are quite a few. Mr. Chips, Abberthorne Arrester, Antoc Midnight Cowboy. These are our most favourite roughs of all times but there are many more and I am sure that everyone has one of their own.

Funniest story. The funniest thing that happened was when as you do just starting out take photos of everything, well we were no exception, we had bought a movie camera and Charles had been making a really good job of filming the shows until this day, my mum, Elizabeth and myself were walking the dogs on the grass outside Hamilton Town Hall and we were getting filmed, well when I got back up to Charles he said that he had got some good pictures, I said that was good, but would they not be better if you took the cover of the lence of the camera.

We have had a few dogs over the years. My mums best dogs over the years that she showed I think were Breichside Cindy and Soloroys Secret Service of Druamar they done very well for her and she loved them to bits.

My mother Janete Scott got her affix Druamar from the name of soap.

Charles & I have had a successful time over the years, we don't have one favourite, but we do have a few that have left their mark.

Philjanco Spick and Span, Misba Golden Trinket, Philjanco Hazel Nut and Ericsons Andromeda Major they all done us proud. The 3 we have at present Philjanco Emma Peel, she got a fright when 7 months old and it has took a long time to get her back into the show ring, but we are getting there and she is doing fine. Philjanco Miss Scotia, she is the daughter of Emma, she is now 4 years old, again she has done very well in the show ring in Scotland, England, Wales and in Ireland where we go in summer to the Irish Ciruit. Aberquarrie Sweet Dreamer at Philjanco is the baby of the family at just 1 year old. Since she started showing 6 months ago

we have been very pleased with her wins.

We will continue to show win or loose. We have made many friends and showing is sometimes the only way to see them. If you are not at a show at the weekend you are at a loose end and wish that you were away with the dogs meeting all their pals and yours

Charles and I made our affix up out of the names Phillips, Janette and Scott, we took the Phil out of Phillips, the Jan out of Janette and the Co out of Scott to make the word PHILJANCO.  How did you make your affix ?

We hope that you have enjoyed this short story, it has brought back many memories.

Regards to everyone
